the region
Features mountainous landscape, the Paraty region lodges a Historical Center and integrates a scenario of dozens of paradisiacal islands around the State of Rio de Janeiro.
Would you like to have fun? To rest? To learn about different cultures? If the answer is yes, your place is Paraty, a city that offers entertainment for all ages and tastes.

Travelers will be delighted by the poetic atmosphere of the historic center, its pavement made of irregular stones, its eighteenth and nineteenth-century architecture and churches that tell us about the foundation of Paraty and Brazil.

Beaches and bays and a rich ecosystem surround this region, blessed with 65 islands and more than a hundred beaches with green, transparent water.

Due to its mountainous geography, Paraty is full of waterfalls and natural pools right in the heart of the Atlantic Forest.
Those who enjoy adventurous activities may practice surfing, diving, mountain trekking, rafting, among other possibilities — all you need to do is to look for touristic agencies.

Visiting the eighteenth-century distillery is another attraction you should not miss. Paraty was Brazil's most important producer or "aguardente" (a kind of distilled drink) in the colonial period. Out of the 100 distilleries that used to function then, Paraty has kept only six — all worth the visit and best known for the quality of their products.

Along the year, Paraty hosts several traditional events. Some of them present the local culture and others are literary or cinematographic festivals that have been raising cultural tourism in the region.
